I just received my official certificate and award for becoming a Certified Professional Photographer!

What does that mean or what does it take to get certified? In January, while at the national convention in San Antonio (and during a horrible ice storm that shut down the city!), I took an exam covering all the technical aspects of photography. Then, last month I submitted a series of images from the past two years - weddings, graduates, babies, families, and commercial work - for review with a panel judges. I am excited to be a part of a small group of photographers that earn this certification.

Jennifer Hassrick of Jennifer Hassrick Photography has earned the Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) designation from the Professional Photographic Certification Commission.

Jennifer earned this designation after meeting rigorous requirements measuring her artistic and technical competence. The Professional Photographic Certification Commission currently recognizes less than 2,000 Certified Professional Photographers.

The Professional Photographic Certification Commission is the leading body for certifying image professionals. Certified Professional Photographers must complete a written examination, an image evaluation, and adhere to a stringent code of conduct. Certification must be renewed on a periodic basis, ensuring continuing confidence in the professionalism of Certified Professional Photographers.

This summer has been full of new babies and babies to be. I have a had a great time trying new things and capturing those sweet moments. Two images come to mind with I think of maternity and newborn sessions. The first one was an expecting couple - they are very sporty and fun. So with jeans and tee's we create some interesting images - they almost remind me of a GAP ad! Black and white, simple, classic. I can't wait for their little one to arrive to complete the set of images for their album!

The other image that came to mind was little Ethan - he's a big boy now (and was when he was born too!). So sweet and very alert for only 6 weeks old! I attached the birth announcement I designed for him.

Starting in September, my schedule will be changing and I will be in the studio Monday, Wednesday & Fridays. Sessions are available Tuesday evenings, Wednesday morning or afternoon, and Friday mornings. For availability, I am booking into the last week of September & early October.
