It's that time of year to refresh, recharge and eat a lot of food. I'll be taking closing the studio around noon tomorrow and will return on January 8th. I'll return email and voice messages on the 8th or so.
I am very excited for 2010 - after taking a year of trying to figure out how to manage two kids (plus a little extra) and a growing studio, I am ready to make some changes. On my wish list? New website, new cameras (yes, that's plural - I am having a fun on eBay), a new camera room, new products, and just exploring a bit more.
Until then, I'll share a Paris image from awhile ago...
As I sit here working on files and orders, I came across this image that I took in early November. I can't believe this was only a month ago - look at the green grass that is now covered in 18" of snow!

'Tis the season for holiday cards! My last batch is arriving from the printers today and it's been a blast designing new cards. Almost all the cards that I print are custom designed and tailored to the images. While I may pull elements from previously designed cards, each one is unique.
I just had to share this one...little girls in pink and brown are just so adorable and great to photograph!

And since we are the subject of the holidays, a few schedule updates for the rest of the year and into 2010...
The studio will be open until noon on December 23 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 5th. Starting in January, the regular studio hours will change to Monday (appointment only), Tuesday & Thursday from 9-4.
Last year, I ate my Thanksgiving dinner after a day of pacing around my house and delivering our 8 lb daughter, Adele Mae. With her birth and Down syndrome diagnosis, our lives changed forever and we were unsure of the direction we were headed. Today, on her first birthday, I've been reflecting on the past year.
As with her sister, Adele has brought such laughter and happiness to our lives. Beyond her weekly therapy appointments, our lives are much more "normal" than I thought they were going to be. She's crawling, babbling and eating finger foods. She gets into her sister's toys and pulls her hair. And she loves to splash around and take a bath with her big sister. All typical one year old things.
And in the months after her birth, I wasn't sure how everything was going to affect the studio and my work. If there has been any impact, I would say that I have been able to prioritize and focus more on what I love to do.
I probably could write all day about all of this - but, instead, I really just want to wish Adele a very, happy first birthday!
I took this quick shot of her while sitting on her dad's lap this morning. One of the few moments when there wasn't a cracker or toy in her mouth...
